PAINTING THE CANVAS Explores listening and moving with and without crayons. It includes projection and atmospheric sounds that ignite moments of colourful and playful imagination.The piece features Echo Echo Ensemble artist Tonya Sheina with her daughters Dara (11years) and Mira (9years) and Echo Echo Ensemble artist Ayesha Mailey with her daughter Naya (7years). It also features multi-instrumentalists Amanda Koser and Stephanie Pawula. With lights by Barry Davis. Created in collaboration with Maria Svensson.

VARIA 2019 EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM For the first time VARIA Improvisation Festival, Gothenburg Sweden, together with Andrew Morrish, invited a small group of students, consisting of eight practitioners from various countries including Maria Svensson. These students took part in the VARIA 2019 Educational Program, facilitated by Andrew Morrish, Peter Trotman, alongside workshop warm-up by Lisa Larsdotter Petersson. As part of the program the students took part in advanced solo improvisation workshops and were individually mentored by Morrish or Trotman to finally share their solos as part of a public showing.
PAPERPOND & PAPERPUFF PLAY Together with visual artist Regina Carbayo, Mara has created two performance pieces: Paperpond & Paperpuff Play aimed at children age 0-3. Both pieces have been shown in childcare and arts centres in Cork 2017-2019 such as Triskel Arts Centre and the Crawford Art Gallery as part of their Seen and Heard Playspace (IE)
SHINING STARS is the working title of a piece that invites us to open our skies and ask ourselves what colour is our dream? Inspired by the gentle, magic poetry that make up our everyday lives. Performed by a trio of dancers accompanied by vocalist and musician Claire O’Brien. Directed by Maria Svensson, the piece was created together with Hugh Scannell, Luca Squillacciotti & Claire O’Brien. Performed as part of Butter Nights#2, Cork Midsummer Festival (IE)
THE CROSSOVER a multi-disciplinary performance art project initiated in 2018 in Cork City featuring collaborations between Cork performance poets, rappers, musicians, dancers and visual artists. MO SPIORAD EILIFINTE / MY ELEPHANT SPIRIT A short dance film directed by Maria Svensson and Mark Mc Loughlin. Made together with a group of dancers in West Kerry based on the performance ‘An Moladh / The Proposal’. The film premiered at Phoenix Cinema as part of Culture Night (IE).

THE IMPORTANCE OF SHEPHERDS Gently humorous, biographical solo. Choreographed and performed by Maria Svensson, assistant director Antonina Sheina. Performed in various festivals such Quarter Block Party, Firkin Crane and the International dance festival Tocht, Siamsa Tíre -The National Folk Theatre of Ireland. Performed in 2016 as part of Movement of Three / Gluaiseacht Triúir in theatres around Kerry: St John’s Theatre & Arts Centre Listowel & Tech Amergin Waterville. The piece premiered as part of Echo Echo Festival of Dance and Movement 2015, Derry.

"DYNAMIC" In 2012 Maria was part of the Solo Performance Commissioning Project (SPCP) together with 19 other dance artists in Findhorn Scotland. They worked for 10 days together with choreographer Deborah Hay and learned her solo “Dynamic”. The dance artists agreed to practice the solo for a minimum of 9 months before their first public showing. Choreography: Deborah Hay, adaption & performance: Maria Svensson. Performed as part of Féile na Bealtaine 2016, NEST Kilkenny & Going Solo Together 2014, premiered at Nya Teatern Örebro 2013.
