AONARACH LE CHÉILE / GOING SOLO TOGETHER
Initially inspired by the essay Everyone is Going Solo Together by writer Jeffrey Gormly and Maria Svensson’s own solo practice after working with choreographer Deborah Hay, Going Solo Together is an inclusive solo dance festival which takes place in Örebro (SE) annually with the aim to bring dance artist and likeminded together. The festival started in 2014 and have run for four successful years to date.
During the most recent festival in 2018 we saw solo performances by (inter)national and local artists such as Toby Gunn, Mohlavyr, Rebecka Stillman, Cornelia Savva, Kazue Ikeda, Jessica Andrenacci, Rosalind Crisp (AUS), Ylva Henrikson, Xixan Xoxa (SLO), Ellinor Ljungkvist and students from Kävesta Folkhögskola.
Going Solo Together 2018 was made possible thanks to Teater Martin Mutter, Dance in Örebro County, Örebro City Council and Rooted Being.
Co-directed together with Nick Bryson of Legitimate Bodies Dance Company, a bilingual version of the festival premiered 2017 in Dingle. Aonarach Le Chéile / Going Solo Together included local, national and international artists and was made possible thanks to the Dance Artist in Residency Scheme, The Arts Council Festival Award, Ealaín na Gaeltachta, Kerry County Council and An Lab.
